BardFest 2019 Season
Hamlet, the prince of Denmark, returns home from his studies abroad upon the sudden death of his father the king. Soon after, his mother remarries with his uncle and his uncle assumes the throne. Worse still, a supernatural visitor charges Hamlet with an unthinkable mission: kill the man who is at once his uncle, his mother’s husband, and his king. Hamlet must grapple with whether and how to fulfill this charge and whether he can even trust the visitor--or himself.
Hamlet's internal struggles and the cat-and-mouse between him and his uncle could have dire consequences not only for Hamlet and everyone close to him but also for the entire country of Denmark, which is under imminent threat of invasion from an ambitious conqueror bent on her own revenge.
