“HEDY! The Life & Inventions of Hedy Lamarr”

“HEDY! The Life & Inventions of Hedy Lamarr”

Playwright: Heather Massie, New York City

Description: Hedy Lamarr, glamorous siren of the silver screen, was more than the most beautiful woman in the world. She invented frequency hopping and spread spectrum technology that make the world of wireless communication tick. From Austria to Hollywood, WWII, torpedoes, ecstasy and intrigue, to the very cell phone in your pocket, she was there!

"Not Dead Yet"

Description: Comedy based on an Oscar-winning film star who moves from Hollywood to her home town in the Midwest. The story revolves around her group of friends and neighbors who are aging in their own unique ways. A birthday gift from her godson presents a journey into the world of cyber mishaps. The adventures of these characters promise to bring some laughs and entertainment to this year’s Diva Fest.

According to the New York State Council on the Arts, only 22 percent of stage productions across the country are created by women; that’s up from a dismal 17 percent fifteen years ago. We must do better.

DO NOT UPDATE THIS NODE :-) Use the other one. :-)

DivaFest is a juried playwrighting festival sponsored by the IndyFringe each year.

Nationally, only 19% of published contemporary plays have been written by women. We are seeking to change that.

Over the past seven years, DivaFest has fostered the growth of new works, new audiences, new performing companies, and new fringe festival shows.
