Volunteer / Internships

About Indy Fringe

IndyFringe is a 501c3 arts organization that the serves the community by creating opportunities for emerging artists. Each August, we host the IndyFringe Festival, an 11 day celebration of live theatre featuring more than 50 performers and groups with almost 400 shows up and down Mass Ave.

The District Theater

The District Theater bridges the gap between audiences and artists and builds a stronger arts community.  In partnership with the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) and The Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival (IndyFringe), we are committed to preserving the facilities and cultural heritage of the Massachusetts Avenue site, as well as striving to provide the best venue for live performances in the Mass Ave Cultural District. Please sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date on our performances, fundraising efforts, and events.

About Our Internships

Every spring (February - May), summer (June - August) and fall (October - January), we offer opportunities for college or post-college students interested in arts admin, event management and promotions-related internship opportunities.

Because IndyFringe is a small organization, interns typically receive more responsibility than at many similar internships.  This creates an incredible opportunity, as well as real-life, resume-worthy professional work. Our interns have a significant impact on our organization.

Internships fall into two categories: Event Management and Marketing.

Event Management interns take an active, hands-on role in the preparation for and running of the IndyFringe Festival, as well as in running various events in our two theatres.

Marketing interns promote the fringe festival and other events through both new and established media. They receive extensive experience in emerging social media and blogs, as well as in writing e-newsletters, press releases and public relations with local radio, newspapers and radio.

Our two summer internships have currently been filled, and we'll be looking for fall interns in early September 2018.
